Modern entry-level hardware easily crushes 240fps. Focus your build around a strong CPU rather than overspending on a massive GPU.Going the used route is a smart play to save cash for a top-tier competitive monitor. Just don't buy too old: Vanguard's TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot requirements will literally block the game from launching on ancient hardware.

Verifier Comment

It probably goes without saying, but out of all the games we've benched, this is overwhelmingly the lightest. It’s so absurdly easy to run that you might find yourself asking, "Why even bother building a gaming PC for this?" But make no mistake, system balance actually matters.Still, the hardware cost to push high framerates is incredibly low. The massive upside here is being able to take the cash you saved on core components and dump it straight into a high-res monitor and top-tier peripherals (like a proper gaming mouse and keyboard).

Riot's Vanguard anti-cheat makes Linux (and SteamOS/Steam Deck) a hard no. But if you're running Windows on a modern handheld, you're good to go. Any decent gaming laptop will push high frames without breaking a sweat.

The verdict is estimated based on hardware specifications, assuming a game resolution of 720p and settings at Medium or lower. A 'PLAYABLE' status does not guarantee actual gameplay performance.

PC Parts Selection Guide

VALORANT PC Component Selection & Build Strategy

The barrier to entry is low, but if you're building a gaming PC, you want high frames. Sink your budget into the CPU first. Don't overlook RAMWindows 11 eats a massive chunk just idling. Skip 8GB and go straight to 16GB to avoid memory-bound micro-stutters.

BALANCE

VALORANT is incredibly light on the GPU. Your framerate is heavily dictated by your CPUspecifically single-core performance. The smart play is to grab an entry-to-mid-range GPU and dump the savings into a beefier CPU and a high-refresh-rate monitor.
Technical Specifications

Specs: Official System Requirements

By modern standards, calling VALORANT's minimum specs a 'gaming PC' is a stretchit's that lightweight. But fair warning: if you want to lock your 1% lows above 200fps for serious competitive play, toss Riot's official system requirements out the window. You'll need real hardware.

GPU Selection & FPS Analysis

VALORANT GPU Benchmark & FPS Guide

Your GPU choice boils down to your target resolution and framerate. If you just want the game to boot, modern integrated graphics (iGPU) will get the job done. But if you want a stable, high-refresh experience, dropping in a dedicated GPU (dGPU)even an entry-level oneis non-negotiable.

Target Mapping

Riot's 'recommended' GPU specs are comically low. If you have a dedicated gaming setup, don't settle for 1080p at 60fps. Push for 1440p or 144fps+. This is a title where even budget-tier GPUs can easily touch 200fps, so you might as well aim for the ceiling.

Technical Evidence

Even ancient entry-level GPUs can chew through this game, so reallocate your budget to the CPU to completely nuke bad 1% lows. It doesn't matter how much GPU horsepower you have if your CPU is choking. Lock in a chip with killer single-core performance.

GPU Matrix

Riot officially recommends the GT 730a card that's barely more than a display adapter. Toss any modern dGPU at this game and it has the muscle to crush 200fps+ at 1080p. However, these framerates won't scale if your CPU is bottlenecking the system. Note: All our estimated FPS metrics assume your CPU is powerful enough to keep up.

The Bottom Line

The Game's Verdict: Recommended Specs & Grade

This game is so brutally lightweight that practically any dedicated gaming GPU released since 2020 can run it without breaking a sweat. You can even get away with playing it on an everyday laptop with integrated graphics. Because the barrier to entry is practically non-existent, the first thing you need to lock down is your target framerate.

Just a heads-up on the estimated FPS metrics on this page: they are calculated by purely scaling raw GPU power against the official system requirements. Because of this, you'll see some high-end GPUs theoretically projecting thousands of frames per second. In the real world, no CPU has the horsepower to actually feed those frames. Your actual framerate is going to hard cap somewhere between a few hundred and 1,000 fps.

But don't fall into the trap of thinking, "It's lightweight, so any potato PC will push high frames." That's where this game gets tricky. Given how unforgiving the gunplay is, boosting your 1% lows to eliminate micro-stutters is absolutely non-negotiable. You could have a massive GPU pumping out a 200fps average, but if your CPU is tapped out, it's completely normal to see those 1% lows tank into the 40s.

The bottom line is that while you obviously need GPU power to push frames, your CPU is the real heavy lifter here. Factor in Riot's Vanguard anti-cheat aggressively eating up CPU cycles in the background, and the build strategy becomes obvious. Start your build by picking a CPU that absolutely refuses to bottleneck the rest of your system, and locking in a stable, sky-high framerate will be a breeze.
